About Chelsea Kaye Anderson

Chelsea Kaye Anderson is an orchestral piccoloist, chamber musician, and flute studio owner in the Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. area. Chelsea graduated as a Master of Music in Piccolo Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in May 2020, Chelsea Kaye currently is mentored by Erica Peel, piccolo soloist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. Chelsea serves as a substitute in the flute sections of the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra and the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra. Most recently, she performed with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra Studio Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble. As a chamber musician, Chelsea Kaye performs with Peabody Conservatory colleagues in woodwind quintets, quartets, and a flute, bassoon, and piano trio. An advocate of environmental issues, Chelsea Kaye has partnered with several other musicians, lawyers, and other professionals to create a recital series. "Planting Seeds of Sound" is focused on bringing environmental issues to the forefront of the musical conversation. Her own musical research resides in how bird song and flight is portrayed in music throughout history. An alumna of Ithaca College, she holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and a Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance. Her previous teachers and mentors include Laurie Sokoloff, Dr. Wendy Herbener Mehne, Mary Kay Robinson, and Berta Frank. Chelsea Kaye fosters an inclusive and supportive private lesson studio of approximately 35 woodwind students in Northern VA. When she is not rehearsing or practicing at Peabody, she resides in Arlington with her husband and senior cat (a favorite among her students), Dahlia.
