The Lesson Studio
Mission Statement:
To offer a high quality, individualized curriculum for students in the private lesson studio. All students will have a strong understanding of their instrument’s function, musical notation and rhythm reading, music theory, and music history. I will foster the creativity and encourage critical thinking skills. Students will perform on studio recitals and strive for the highest quality of performance. I will encourage positive practice routines and inspire further curiosity about their instrument and the musical world.

Lesson Expectations (taken from Lesson Studio Contract 2018-19)
Be Prepared: Students will bring their instrument, lesson binder, method and solo books, band music, and other assigned music to every lesson. They will build a regular practice routine at home to ensure they arrive properly prepared to every lesson.
Be Timely: Students will arrive at the Potomac Towers lobby on time with a positive attitude, ready to have fun and make music. Learning to be prompt at a young age will be a valuable life lesson in all the student’s pursuits.
Be Respectful: Students will actively listen to the teacher and participate in the lesson discussion. They will pose questions in a respectful manner. I encourage students to bring their own interpretations on how the music should be played as long as the student offers it with respect and substantive knowledge.
